Anna studied education in the Netherlands and graduated in 2004. She worked in a “Jenaplan” school, which purposely combines grade levels in each class. In 2010 Anna moved to Guyana to work for VSO with the local government of a remote jungle town. In 2012, she found a job in Lusaka as teacher and coordinator of the Dutch Language school at the International School of Lusaka (ISL). In 2014, she took on a Year 6 class at ISL. Then, in 2016, Anna and her family moved to Mexico City where she taught Year 2 and 5. Anna joined TPK in 2018.
Anna is married to Oliver and they have two children, Moya and Luka. She loves the fact that her children play with children in the neighbourhood, walk to the market to buy an ice-cream, that there are no walls around the houses and neighbours know each other. Anna loves reading, playing games (she is quite competitive), baking and spending time with family and friends.
Working at TPK is more than just a job: Anna loves the atmosphere, set-up, space for outdoor activities, amount of resources available and most of all the children, who are so enthusiastic about almost anything they do.
As a teacher she believes that the key quality is enthusiasm.
“When children are enthusiastic about the things they do, content will stick, and they will go the extra mile and make great things happen. Enthusiasm is contagious, together we can do it.”
