Co-curricular Activities

Sport

“Sport enables Trident College pupils to learn valuable lessons of working towards a goal, being humble in success, resilient in failure, and discerning in the lessons learnt. Whether an individual or team sport, Trident College encourages all of our students to participate irrespective of age, ability or experience. We also promote and support the striving for excellence and taking on the challenge of competing both locally and internationally in the quest for being the best. “

Sport is an intricate part of the school day at Trident College. As a compulsory subject taught within the curriculum in the lower school, all students are introduced to the theory and practical skills of a variety of sports. These are then further developed through the co-curricular programme in the afternoon. Our pupils thoroughly enjoy participating in their sporting activities with our team sports being the favourite of many.

While the school prides itself in offering our pupils a variety of sporting choices, from athletics to swimming, they are also encouraged to pursue wider interests outside of school such as mountain biking and golf. The shared facilities for these two sports, in particular, are world class, with a challenging terrain and exciting technical trails and a beautiful 18-hole golf course on our doorstep. We compete locally and nationally at U14 and U16 level while internationally at U19 age group.

Clubs and Societies

“Clubs and Societies at Trident College enable pupils the freedom and opportunity to explore and develop interests and talents outside of the traditional curriculum areas and sporting platforms. This enables our pupils to widen their spheres and perspectives to become holistic and well-rounded learners, in and out of the classroom.”

At Trident College, Clubs and Societies may be full-time commitments such as in music and art where students are assessed and rewarded accordingly, or they can be extra-mural activities where participation is voluntary, allowing students the opportunity to select areas of interest and develop new skills at any time in their school career. The Duke of Edinburgh International Award is a vehicle to recognise areas of achievement in community service and skill, where pupils are encouraged to set themselves targets and push their individual boundaries for a collective good.

As part of the Clubs and Societies provision pupils at Trident College are offered the following: movie maker club, nature walks within the game park, choir and orchestral groups, chess, board games, Model UN, public speaking, drama and discussion/debating, TedEX presentation opportunities, the Interact Club, spiritual community groups and the agricultural club. All of which unite the students and wider community in an atmosphere of camaraderie, fun and responsible development.
